Have you been following our talk on how to boost the result of your skin care products by honing your product application skills? In part I, we discussed the Do's, the actions you NEED to perform to get the most of your Korean skin care routine. Here goes the Don'ts. And don't feel too bad if you have been practising some of these without knowing (or noticing!). You can reverse the effects by stopping these today and adopting our product application "best practices".
Korean Oil cleansers are simply revolutionary, but every girl knows how much of a nightmare removing waterproof eye make-up is. Sometimes, despite your attempts at keeping calm and treating your eyes as gently as possible, that stubborn eyeliner that just won't come off tests your patience. I know, at times like these it can be tempting to just rub on it until it comes off, but trust me; it's not worth it.
The skin around your eyes is very thin and is extremely sensitive. It's the area that is most prone to fine lines and is the earliest to show signs of aging. Rubbing and pulling on the eye area encourages the development of fine lines so always remember to treat this area as delicately and patiently as possible, especially when applying your favourite eye care products.
It only takes 60 seconds right after cleansing your face for it to start to dry up and tighten. Dry and tight skin is considered to be the bane of every beauty conscious Korean woman as it helps promote dullness and premature aging. To prevent this, always apply an alcohol-free toner followed by your best moisturizing product within a minute after washing your face. The offer is generous: essences, serums, ampoules, facial oils, lotions and creams, pick your favourites. It’ important to always use a non-alcohol based toner as a high concentration of denatured alcohol might dry up your skin. If you find yourself running out of time, we absolutely recommend the Whamisa Organic Flowers Toner (available in three versions for oily/combination, normal, and dry skin), which combines the power of two products in just one gorgeous frosted bottle.
When it comes to perfect skin, it pays to be patient. Koreans are huge fans of multi-step skin regimens that can sometimes take precious minutes off their morning routine (but pay off every single day). Of course, you don't have to take hours in the morning to have better-looking skin. It’s possible to improve your current skin care regimen by simply waiting a few extra seconds in between steps to allow your skin to fully absorb the product before slathering on a new one. You could even squeeze in a few facial massages in between!
